DES MOINES, Iowa – Sustainable Environmental Consultants (SEC), a leader in providing innovative environmental responsibility solutions throughs its three divisions of Sustainability Risk Management, Agricultural Engineering and Compliance and Erosion Control, is pleased to announce Doug McCorkle, Ph.D. and Gabe McNunn, Ph.D., have joined the team as chief science officer and data science engineer respectively.
As the chief science officer, McCorkle is responsible for creating and championing the strategic technological vision for SEC. He will provide support of the existing software system applications and architecture of the EcoPractices® platform, an innovative sustainability verification and validation platform. He comes to SEC from AgSolver, Inc., an agronomic services company, where he was the senior vice president of operations and co-founder. After EFC Systems, Inc. acquired AgSolver, he served as a senior engineer.
McCorkle received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He achieved his master’s and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He has been published in numerous journals, led presentations, workshops and served on conference panels. He has received awards and honors for his work including R&D 100 awards, Regional Excellence in Technology Transfer from the National Federal Laboratory Consortium, and Research Excellence awards among others.
As the data science engineer, McNunn is responsible for the development and integration of modeling tools within the EcoPractices® platform. With the modeling tools, he will provide support and recommendations related to SEC’s environmental analysis methods. He previously served as the environmental modeling and data engineer at AgSolver/EFC Systems, Inc.
McNunn received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He will achieve his doctorate in environmental science from Iowa State University this fall.
