Animal Science and Agronomy Sustainability Intern
“Agriculture is a very important part of my life and the livelihood of my family. I couldn't imagine being in any other field, and I strive to make this industry better every day.”
In 2021, Caylie Boyle joined the Sustainable Environmental Consultants (SEC) team as the animal science and agronomy sustainability intern, where she brings her passion for advocating for the people who represent the agriculture industry. In her position, Caylie works to help clients tell their economic and environmental sustainability stories from the practices they’ve implemented, whether through a reduction of commercial fertilizer, use of nutrient management plans in place on their farms, storage systems, and methods and technology for applying manure.
She works closely on data onboarding, developing recommendations, generating reports, and supporting clients within our EcoPractices® platform. She assesses animal diets and nutrition for sustainability and production impacts while helping develop sustainable continuous improvement plans for livestock farms to help show operational progress and short-term and long-term goals of the operation. Caylie sees her role as helping to make the industry better every day.
Caylie has been part of the agricultural industry her entire life, growing up on a farm with livestock. An entrepreneur herself, she understands the business and sales side of clients’ operations and works to leverage that knowledge in her everyday work. She loves to meet new people and make new connections and can’t imagine working in any other field.
Caylie is currently studying at Iowa State University where she’s working toward her bachelor’s of science in animal science. She is certified in Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) and Beef Quality Assurance (BQA), and is a member of Swine Production Advocates.
