Matt Swanson

Senior Technical Agronomist

“Sustainable practices do not have to mean compromising yield or production. My goal is to work alongside producers to help make a difference at the farm gate.”

Senior technical agronomist Matt Swanson joined the Sustainable Environmental Consultants (SEC) team in August 2022. In his role, Matt supports producers by providing technical assistance, data reporting and recommendations on practice implementation for conservation practices. He is passionate about the sustainable practices being implemented in today’s agriculture and is excited to help spread the word on soil health, cover crops and reduced tillage.

Growing up on a farm in Minnesota, Matt developed an interest in pursuing a career in agronomy. He is fascinated by the changes that each year brings and is passionate about caring for the land. Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in agriculture industries and marketing from University of Minnesota and is currently pursuing his Master of Agriculture – Professional Agriculture at Iowa State University.

Matt holds over 16 years of professional experience including that of seed sales, agronomy sales, commodity merchandising and consulting roles. He appreciates working with producers that not only want high yields but also care about the land.

In his free time, Matt stays busy tending to his livestock operation where he raises beef and pork. He enjoys working on the farm with his children as well as helping them show pigs and cattle. Additionally, he enjoys hunting, fishing and riding ATVs.
